Cartagena City Hall will feature new exterior ornamental lighting thanks to the Fundación Iberdrola España

Cartagena City Hall will showcase a new exterior lighting design following the signing of an agreement between Fundación Iberdrola España and the City Council

Fundación Iberdrola España has committed to refurbishing and upgrading the exterior ornamental lighting of Cartagena City Hall. This will be carried out under the collaboration agreement signed with the municipal council.

The project, backed by an investment of €250,000, includes the installation of new state-of-the-art LED luminaires aimed at reducing the monument’s energy consumption while enhancing the unique beauty of this landmark in the Murcia region.

The initiative seeks to highlight the building’s eclectic style with French influences. It was constructed between 1900 and 1907 by Tomás Rico, with the collaboration of Francisco de Paula Oliver, on the same site where the former 18th-century town hall once stood.

This agreement forms part of the broad and diverse programme designed for 2026 to mark the 125th anniversary of Iberdrola. It ranges from art exhibitions, music festivals and technology showcases to social events under the slogan “125 light-years”.
