Iberdrola España launches the illumination of Madrid’s Royal Palace Chapel

27 January 2026

This event marks the start of the company’s 2026 programme to illuminate landmark buildings and monuments across Spain

The Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Madrid will be illuminated together with Iberdrola to celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary

The Iberdrola España Foundation has launched its programme of activities to mark the 125th anniversary of the Iberdrola Group, of which it forms part, with an upgrade to the lighting system at the Royal Chapel of the Royal Palace of Madrid, one of the great treasures of Spain’s historical and artistic heritage.

The president of the Iberdrola España Foundation, Jaime Alfonsín, and the president of Patrimonio Nacional, Ana de la Cueva, inaugurated the new lighting.

The Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace stands out for its architectural and artistic richness, which includes frescoes, sculptures and ornamental elements of enormous historical value.

It has also been the setting for solemn ceremonies and court events, making it a living testament to the history of Spain and the Monarchy. It is accessed from the main gallery of the Royal Palace, one of the few official residences of heads of state that are open to the public.
